Acetyl Glutathione

Acetyl-Glutathione is a novel oral Glutathione formulation that is stable in the stomach and gastrointestinal tract, well absorbed, and able to enter the cells directly and present to the Cytosol for mitochondrial entry.*

Unlike other forms of Glutathione, Acetyl-Glutathione tablets are odor-free and easy to take. Glutathione is found throughout the body, and is concentrated in the liver and kidneys, as well as the lining of the lungs and intestines.  It is the body’s major endogenous antioxidant, playing a central role in maintaining the redox state of every cell in the body.  Besides directly reacting with oxidants, it also recycles other antioxidants back to their reduced forms, both endogenous antioxidants such as Glutaredoxins, and exogenous antioxidants including Vitamins C and E.  It serves as a co-factor for Glutathione Peroxidases, and is involved in the regulation of the Nitric Oxide cycle.  Glutathione is important in liver andkidney detoxification processes, and Glutathione levels are considered a key marker of immune status."*

Because Glutathione is a tripeptide (i.e., made of three amino acids), oral reduced Glutathione has unfavorable biochemical and pharmacokinetic properties.  It is not well absorbed from the gut, it has a short half-life in blood plasma, and it is not clear that it is transported into cells to any significant extent.  When taken orally, the body must break most of the Glutathione into its component amino acids (cysteine, Glutamate, Glycine) to allow absorption into the blood stream.  Even if some whole Glutathione does gain access to the blood stream, in order to be taken up by cells, it must be broken down and re-synthesized to Glutathione intracellularly. Metabolic and enzymatic obstacles in the body can and do impair these processes.

S-Acetyl-Glutathione is one of several reversible bioconjugates of Glutathione that are stable in plasma, and that can be taken up by cells directly.  De-acetylation is an ordinary occurrence in cells, and once in the cells, S-Acetyl-Glutathione is naturally de-acetylated to Glutathione. S-Acetyl-Glutathione contains one Acetyl group on the Sulfhydryl portion of the peptide. Intracellularly, the Acetyl group is removed to replenish Glutathione for mitochondrial action.*

What is Andropause?
Andropause is the result of low testosterone throughout your body.

Andropause or male menopause is a name that has been given to a supposed menopause-like condition in middle-aged men. This may relate to a reduction of the production of the hormones testosterone and dehydrogenate in middle-aged men, and the consequences of that reduction, which is associated with a decrease in Leydig cells.

Unlike women, middle-aged men do not experience a complete and permanent physiological shutting down of the reproductive system. A steady decline in testosterone levels with age (in both men and women) is well documented,[4]. There is on-going professional disagreement about whether or not "andropause" should be considered a normal "state" (the term used by MeSH), or a disorder.

Andropause is usually caused by a very gradual testosterone deficiency and an increase in sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) that occurs from age 35 onwards. By contrast, women have a sudden onset of menopause around age 51. Testosterone declines 10% every decade after age 30 (1% per year).

With allergy season in full bloom, BioResource recommends the following remedy guidelines for providing patients with fast relief of symptoms:

• Syntrion SyAllgen tablets: Take one under the tongue every 2 hours to start, reduce as symptoms subside to 3 times per day

Other Possible Considerations:

Blood Type Diet - Supplements
The blood type diet is a diet advocated by Peter D'Adamo and outlined in his book Eat Right 4 Your Type. Its basic premise is that ABO blood type is the most important factor in determining a healthy diet.

Some dieticians, physicians, and nutritional scientists claim the theory lacks scientific evidence.

The cornerstone of his theory is D’Adamo’s premise that lectins in foods react differently with each ABO blood type. Throughout his books he cites the works of various biochemists and glycobiologists who have researched blood groups, claiming or implying that their research supports this theory. In his book, Eat Right 4 Your Type, "Lectins: The Diet Connection", and in following chapters, "lectins" which interact with the different ABO type "antigens" are described as incompatible and harmful, therefore the selection of different foods for A, AB, B, and O types to minimize reactions with these lectins.

D'Adamo bases his ideas on the ABO classification of Karl Landsteiner and Jan Janský, and some of the many other tissue surface antigens and classification systems, in particular the Lewis antigen system for ABH secretor status. [2]

The evolutionary theory of blood groups, which is also used by D'Adamo, stems from work by William C. Boyd, an immunochemist and blood type anthropologist who made a worldwide survey of the distribution of blood groups. In his book Genetics and the races of man: An introduction to modern physical anthropology, published in 1950, Boyd describes how by genetic analysis of blood groups, human races are populations that differ according to their alleles. On this basis, Boyd divided the world population into 13 geographically distinct races with slightly different frequency distributions of blood group genes.

D'Adamo groups those thirteen races together by ABO blood group, each type within this group having unique dietary recommendations:

Blood group O - the hunter, the earliest human blood group. The diet recommends that these supposedly muscular, active people eat a meat-rich diet.

Blood group A - called the cultivator by D'Adamo, who believes it to be a more recently evolved blood type, dating back from the dawn of agriculture. The diet recommends that individuals of blood group A eat a diet emphasizing vegetables and free of red meat, a more vegetarian food intake.

Blood group B - according to D'Adamo, the nomad, associated with a strong immune system and a flexible digestive system. The blood type diet claims that people of blood type B are the only ones who can thrive on dairy products.
