NeuroZac 120 caps | Sun Ten
Biochemically, St. John's Wort appears to effect the brain in a similar way that Prozac does - prolonging the activity of serotonin - a mood enhancing brain chemical. (Time Mag, 9/22/97, p.81) It seems to extend the action of at least two other powerful brain chemicals believed to play a role in depression: dopamine and norepinephrine. St. John's Wort works by preventing reabsorption by nearby nerve fibers, rather than stimulating the release of the neurotransmitters.*
Side Effects:
The primary benefits of Neurozac treatment are the absence of side effects. In the study of 3,250 patients of depression, only 2.4 percent experienced any side effects. Of those 2.4 percent, experiences included mild restlessness, gastrointestinal irritations and mild allergic reactions. Another caution is photoxicity in those that are hypersensitive to sunlight. Thus, St. John's Wort's absence of serious side effects offers an attractive alternative to perscription antidepressants.*
