Calcium and Magnesium Suppositories 30 Count
Both calcium and magnesium are essential to healthy and productive physiological well being.*
- Each suppository delivers 136mgs of elemental Calcium, which is the equivalent of six (6) 500 mg calcium citrate capsules or tablets, because only 20-25mgs/capsule are actually absorbed by the body.
- The recommendation of oral 1000mgs of calcium citrate by medical professionals is ONLY 40 mgs of absorbed elemental calcium, less than 1/10 of what is needed on a daily basis.
- Safer alternative to prevent and/or treat osteoporosis when compared to bisphosphonates
The calcium and magnesium suppository provides the RDA levels of elemental calcium in the most bioactive forms that go directly into the cells. Magnesium deficiency has an effect on the absorption and release of calcium and calcium is crucial to physical well being. One example is that when the cells have enough calcium, the blood may have a deficiency and low blood calcium is a known consequence of magnesium deficiency.*
The Calcium and Magnesium suppository provides a person with the essential amounts of elemental calcium and is the most effective solution for individuals that suffer from poor and/or inadequate intestinal absorption of calcium.*
Why Calcium and Magnesium should be taken together in the same supplement.*
You do not need to take magnesium and calcium together in the same supplement to absorb calcium. The confusion arises from misunderstanding the difference between metabolism and absorption.*
The body needs magnesium to PROPERLY USE CALCIUM, IN OTHER WORDS TO METABOLIZE CALCIUM. But this has to do with what happens to calcium after it has been absorbed, not with calcium absorption itself. However, with that understood there is no doubt that Magnesium is a crucially important essential mineral.*
Magnesium plays many roles in human physiology, including calcium metabolism. Magnesium deficiency impairs secretion of PTH (parathyroid hormone) and that hormone increases absorption of calcium in the gut by activating vitamin D3. The Parathyroid Hormone also triggers release of calcium from the bone when the blood levels of calcium fall too low to meet the body's physiological calcium requirements. At the same time, activation of vitamin D3 requires magnesium, because the enzyme that catalyzes this activation needs magnesium to work.*
Calcium is important for cellular functions, but excess calcium inside the cell can be harmful. Magnesium prevents excess calcium from accumulating inside cells. Interestingly, when cells contain too much calcium, the blood may not have enough. Low blood calcium, know as "hypocalcemia," is a known consequence of magnesium deficiency. So the importance of magnesium cannot be understated.*
The bottom line is that we need magnesium to make proper use of calcium. In fact, taking calcium supplements may increase the need for magnesium by increasing the proportional intake of calcium relative to magnesium. Many people, especially seniors, consume less than the RDI, as shown in nutritional surveys. Therefore when taking 1000 mg or more of elemental calcium via diet or calcium in supplements, as is widely recommended, without magnesium the calcium to magnesium ratio may become imbalanced and therefore magnesium is included to maintain the optimal ratio.*

Each Zetpil™ Calcium and Magnesium suppository contains a proprietary blend of the following: highly bioavailable forms of Calcium yielding 160 mg Elemental Calcium; 200 mg of highly bioavailable forms of magnesium yielding 40 mg of elemental Magnesium. Base: The base is a proprietary combination of plant and fruit butters, vegetable acids, medium chain triglycerides, phospholipids, lecithin, vegetable starches, cellulose, oligosaccharides derivatives, polysaccharides and cycloamylose derivatives. The base formulation is designed for direct delivery into the bloodstream for maximum effect.
Recommended use: 2-3 Calcium/Magnesium per day or as directed by your health care professional.
Note: Two (2) packages (60 suppositories) of the Zetpil™ Calcium and Magnesium Suppository supplies a 30 day course of calcium replacement therapy and it has been observed that restoration of calcium levels in individuals experiencing intestinal malabsorption requires long-term supplementation. However, serum calcium levels should be assessed every 6 months.
