What Are Adrenal Glands?

The adrenal glands, located directly above the kidneys, regulate many of your body’s basic functions, and are therefore vital to your overall health. Specifically, the adrenals help your body:

Most importantly, the adrenal glands are related to stress. In fact, they produce three types of hormones, including the essential glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids, that help the body manage and mitigate the physical effects of stress.

What Is Adrenal Fatigue?

Adrenal fatigue occurs when the adrenal glands are weary from overproduction. In fact, a feeling of fatigue can be a major symptom of adrenal exhaustion, which often progresses gradually over the years in response to many different factors. One of the major contributors to adrenal fatigue is stress, which results from any number of factors—physical trauma, emotional turmoil, mental strain. Anything from a major exam to a violent shooting can bring on the body’s stress response and thereby tax the adrenal glands. Eventually, too much stress over too long a period can cause adrenal exhaustion, which typically occurs in a series of four stages.

Other Causes of Adrenal Fatigue

There are many potential causes of adrenal fatigue. Although they can range from chronic illness to excessive consumption of vitamin C, the most common reasons are:

Chronic unresolved stress wreaks havoc on the body. Unfortunately, we see the consequences every day in our clinic. Fortunately, there is a solution.

Improving Your Adrenal Health

The first step toward better adrenal health is assessment, or adrenal testing. In order to assess the current state of your health, the specialists at our clinic will ask a number of questions. To determine whether you currently suffer from the symptoms of adrenal fatigue, we provide a scale of 1-10, with 7 representing good overall health. Those who describe an energy level below 7, or even below 4, are most likely experiencing adrenal fatigue symptoms.

You also can test the functioning of your adrenal glands by taking the Adrenal Stress Index Test, or a combination of the Adrenal Test and a Neurotransmitter test. If your glands are not performing at their optimal level, it may be time to reset the endocrine system by undergoing adrenal support therapy, namely by taking adrenal fatigue supplements, which can dramatically improve your overall quality of life.

Adrenal Supplements Can Correct Adrenal Insufficiency

Adrenal supplements can help repair the adrenal glands and restore your body’s natural and healthy energy levels. In fact, adrenal support supplements are part of a comprehensive adrenal fatigue treatment. By addressing the underlying cause of fatigue—adrenal insufficiency—you can boost your energy levels, increase your feeling of vitality, and improve your overall well-being.
