FAQ’s on Light Therapy

Frequently asked questions on usage – how to use- if I can use and expectations....

It is recommended that you use our light therapy for 3 minutes per treatment area. You can use clock, cell phone or watch timer to set that time. Hold or place the device on the treatment area, holding it steady without moving it around. Upon completion of the 3 minute treatment cycle, move device to the next treatment area repeat and follow the same steps.

It is recommended that you hold the device 1⁄4” from the skin’s surface or directly on the skin if you wish. For our handheld device you will hold them it steady on the treatment area for 3 minutes.
When using our “hands free” keep the device stationary (without moving) for each treatment cycle.

1. Turn device off and unplug from any power source.
2. Do not clean the LED lights with any liquid or damp cloth. Use air blower device like a blow dryer or computer air

cleaner to remove particles and dust from LEDs. 3. Clean device exterior with damp cloth or rubbing alcohol.

4. Allow to dry completely prior to use.

Infrared Light Therapy penetrates about 1” to 1 1⁄2” beneath the skin surface.

If you just started using the light therapy for anti-aging treatments you may want to start off with once a day use, and do that for perhaps first 45-60 days. After that you may continue to use the system daily, or you may decrease it to 2-3 times per week, or even less, such as once per week, whatever works for you and your schedule. Everyone’s skin is different and will respond differently when using light therapy. For anti-aging applications we recommend to leave the system on one treatment area for 3 minutes. Holding the device steady and not moving around. After 3 minutes you will move to the next treatment area.

The Light Therapy System for Anti-Aging does not have any harmful rays and it will not cause damage to the skin or eyes. The system is safe to use around the eye area. The LED’s are bright and it is preferred that your eyes are closed while using the device on the eye area.

For Pain applications you can use the device once or twice per day. However, if you are experiencing pain after these two sessions you may use the system more. Unlike a heating pad, light therapy works underneath the skins surface, penetrating a 1” to 1”1 1⁄2” below the skin’s surface.
There are many studies, including NASA studies that shows that light therapy works for pain relief. Professionals such as doctors, rehab facilities, therapists, and chiropractors use the light therapy on patients in clinical settings with great success.

Many people will experience reduced pain after the first use, but depending on different factors it could take many days of multiple treatments to feel the pain reduction. Some of the factors that impact results are: type of pain, cause or source of pain, medications, location on body, etc.
We encourage the users to set the expectations levels at a reasonable point. Light Therapy assists with pain relief, including increasing blood circulation, relaxing muscles, and reducing spasms. Be encouraged to be realistic in expectations with what you are trying to accomplish.

Use the Light Therapy System on affected areas for 3 minutes per treatment area. Hold device steady during each treatment time. When acne flares up light therapy can be used for spot treatments or for the treatment of larger areas. Blue light kills the bacteria, if used regularly will help keep acne at bay.

Devices with a combination of Infrared LEDs you will see the red, amber LED’s but, will not be able to see the Infrared LED’s with the naked eye. The Infrared light spectrum that is not visible to the human eye. They are on and are working, but we cannot see them. Cell phones and high speed digital cameras can pick up this spectrum, holding your cell phone camera over the device when it has been turned on you will see the Infrared LED’s. Our Acne devices use only blue LED’s for the treatment of acne.

Goggles are optional and are provided in our Anti-aging and Acne devices comfort if needed. The LED light is very bright we recommend that your eyes are closed during treatments on the face or near the eyes. For customers that have sensitivity to the bright lights goggles are an option.
There are no harmful UV rays, and it will not cause damage to the eye. The system is safe to use around the eye area and even over the eye lid with your eyes closed.

Introducing light therapy to Rosacea or sensitive skin:
For treatment of rosacea we would recommend purchasing one of our Anti-Aging Systems.
Those with rosacea & sensitive skin should introduce the light therapy by starting with a treatment time of one (1) minute per area, and increase the number of minutes gradually to a comfortable treatment time.

The system will stimulate and increase collagen under the skin surface. By increasing circulation this will “plump” the skin bringing the collagen back to the surface. Using the Anti-Aging Light Therapy system does help with toning and firming the skin as well. If the sagging is substantial, it would require prolonged use until you would be able to see some notable results.

There are many factors that come into play when determining results.
Wrinkles (Anti-aging) some people report seeing improvement after a short period of time, as early as couple of weeks, while for others it may take longer. Everyone’s skin is different and will respond differently when using light therapy.
Pain results can be immediate or will require several treatments depending on the pain and or condition.
Acne results happen very quickly and with continuous treatments can keep the acne at bay.

We would recommend using the system on a clean face. Prior to light therapy treatment avoid the use of any products that contain light blocking ingredients, products that may increase sensitivity to light, or any products that contain Retin A. Products that you love that are light sensitive (Retin A, SPF etc...) it is recommended that you use them after your light therapy treatment

INJECTIONS (Botox, Juvederm):

You should allow time for the product that has been injected to harden/solidify, since the light therapy will increase the circulation and stimulate the area. It is suggested that you avoid the area of injection for 5-7 days to allow the product that was injected to settle.

Steroids work by decreasing inflammation and reducing the activity of the immune system. Steroid injections are often used to reduce joint inflammation and thereby decrease pain.
Light Therapy should not be used directly over a site of a recent steroid injection for 72 hours. The Light therapy promotes circulation and stimulates the area that is being treated. The vasodilatation (enlargement) effect may cause the release of the steroid from the injection site. Additionally, since light therapy can accelerate the inflammation process to help initiate healing, this is a counter-productive to the use of the steroids.

After 72 hours, light therapy treatment may be implemented with a minimum recommended dose/treatment time, and thereafter can gradually increase to the standard dose/treatment time. If you have questions or concerns, we suggest that you consult your physician.

Yes, you can use the Light Therapy System safely if you have a pacemaker. However, you should always avoid using the light therapy system directly over the pacemaker.
If you have questions or concerns, we suggest that you consult your physician.

Metal pins, rods, and artificial joints generally reflect infrared rays and are not heated up by the infrared heat. You should never feel any discomfort while using light therapy and discontinue if you do.
If you have questions or concerns, we suggest that you consult your physician.

Individuals using large dosages of aspirin, ibuprofen, and other similar anti-inflammatory drugs for pain management may experience increased sensitivity to sunlight, which may cause mild skin reactions as a result of the light therapy.
If you have questions or concerns, we suggest that you consult your physician.
