Wen Jing Tang

Warms the menses and scatters cold, supplements and nourishes the qi and blood, quickens the blood*

Chong and ren vacuity cold with blockage and obstruction due to blood stasis resulting in enduring uterine bleeding, including abnormally long menstruation and midcycle bleeding, irregular menstruation (either early or delayed), dysmenorrhea, infertility, chronic pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), periand menopausal syndrome*

Note: Chong and ren vacuity cold in this case is a synonym for qi and blood, yin and yang vacuity.

Within this formula, Dang Shen (Radix Codonopsis), Ban Xia (Rhizoma Pinelliae), Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), and Sheng Jiang (uncooked Rhizoma Zingiberis) fortify the spleen and supplement the qi.* Ban Xia and Sheng Jiang also rectify the qi, eliminate dampness, and transform phlegm should those principles also be necessary.* Further, Gan Cao harmonizes all the other ingredients in the formula.* Dang Gui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Mai Men Dong (Tuber Ophiopgonis), E Jiao (Gelatinum Corii Asini), and Bai Shao (Radix Alba Paeoniae) nourish the blood and enrich yin.* Wu Zhu Yu (Fructus Evodiae) and Gui Zhi (Ramulus Cinnamomi) warm the menses and scatter cold. Mu Dan Pi (Cortex Moudan) quickens the blood and dispels stasis.*

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF QI VACUITY INCLUDE:*

  • Fatigue
  • Shortness of breath
  • Lack of strength
  • Orthostatic hypotension
  • Easy bruising
  • A forceless pulse

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF BLOOD VACUITY INCLUDE:*

  • A pale facial complexion, lips, and nails
  • Blurred vision and/or night blindness
  • Dry, falling hair
  • Gastrocnemius cramps at night in bed
  • Brittle nails
  • A pale tongue
  • Numbness
  • A fine pulse

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF YIN VACUITY INCLUDE:*

  • Low back and lower leg soreness and limpness
  • Heat in the five hearts of centers
  • Nocturia
  • Tidal flushing
  • Dizziness
  • Dry mouth and lips
  • Tinnitus
  • A red tongue or tongue tip with scanty, possibly
  • Hot flashes yellow fur
  • Night sweats
  • A fine and/or floating, possibly rapid pulse

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF YANG VACUITY INCLUDE:*

  • Low back and lower leg soreness and limpness
  • Decreased libido
  • Polyuria
  • Cold feet
  • A deep, forceless, and/or slow pulse (especially in the right cubit)

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF BLOOD STASIS INCLUDE:*

  • Enduring, possibly fixed lower abdominal pain
  • Clots in the menstruate
  • Possible static speckles or macules on the tongue or a purple tongue
  • A bowstring, choppy, bound, and/or regularly intermittent pulse

Dosage:
Three capsules two times per day equal not less than 30 grams of bulk medicinals. However, because our extraction process is so much more efficient than stovetop decoction, we believe this amount of extract is actually more like the equivalent of 45-60 grams of bulk-dispensed herbs.
