1 to 2 dropperful, 2-3 times daily

Taking the Solutions
Chinese Modular Solutions are easy to dispense and convenient to use. Practitioners individualize prescriptions by blending herbal extracts from two, four, or eight ounce source jars into one or two ounce dropper bottles. One ounce of extract provides a 6-10 day therapeutic course. Patients simply squirt the recommended dose into a cup with hot water or juice. For the most rapid results, extracts can be taken undiluted in the mouth and mixed with saliva before swallowing. If evaporating the alcohol is desired, boiling water should be added; for a slower effect, cool water may be used.

When formulas with distinct therapeutic actions are used, each mixture should be taken 2-3 hours apart. In cases of acute symptoms; patients may do best taking doses as often as every hour.

Because of the potency of these herbal extracts, proportionately lower doses are required than with water extractions or raw herb powders and tablets. Therapeutic responses can be much more rapid, patients sometimes feeling results immediately.

Dosage
The average dose is 1-2 cc of solution, or approximately 30-60 drops, 2-3 times per day. Due to the efficiency of the double water-alcohol extraction process, 60-90 drops (2-3 cc) taken daily is equivalent to 1-2 cups (250-500 cc) of water decoction, the generally recommended daily dose. Three tablets are equivalent to 2 cc of liquid extract. Two to three tablets, 2-3 times a day constitutes a daily dose.

However, the actual range for individual doses may vary substantially. Practitioners should be attentive to customizing dosages based on patient requirements and tolerance.

For a stronger and more rapid effect, the formulas should be taken on an empty stomach. For those with more sensitive stomachs, doses should be taken with food or after meals (this moderates the herbs' effects and rate of absorption).

For babies or young children, add the entire daily dose to 1 oz of boiling water to evaporate the alcohol, then add 3 oz of fruit juice or cereal with honey, maple syrup, or raw sugar to mask the taste. Total daily amount may be divided into 4-6 individual doses.
