Enteromend 90 caps
Enteromend is Health Concerns' new formula addressing the symptoms of food intolerance including cramping, bloating, belching, intestinal gas, nausea and diarrhea. It can be used between meals to help heal the intestines as well as to reduce reactions to food when taken with meals.
What it is best for:
Enteromend specifically helps people with wheat and gluten intolerance by increasing the activity of dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP-IV). The lack of this enzyme activity in the small intestine prevents the digestion of gluten fragments. It is thought that these peptide fragments, if left undigested, elicit immune responses that can inflame the lining of the small intestine. Enteromend includes a full complement of enzymes to digest dairy products, protein, carbohydrates and fats.
Enteromend is helpful for the following symptoms:
- Poor digestion
- Gluten intolerance
- Food intolerance
- Intestinal inflammation
- Intestinal gas
Why it works:
Gluten intolerance is a broad term that includes all kinds of sensitivity to gluten. The general symptoms of gluten intolerance include abdominal pain, gas, and diarrhea. A more advanced type of gluten intolerance, Celiac disease is an inherited autoimmune disorder characterized by malabsorption of gluten and subsequent intestinal damage. Celiac disease is associated with digestive disorders, iron deficiency abnormal blood function, osteoporosis, intestinal cancer, lymphoma, and other autoimmune disorders such as Rheumatoid Arthritis. The accepted treatment is a strict adherence to a gluten free diet.
Within the intestinal wall are several enzymes, called Brush Border Enzymes which are important for normal gluten breakdown. It has been theorized that if sufficient quantities of these enzymes were supplemented, gluten sensitivity could be minimized or avoided. This is important as gluten intolerance has been noticed in patients digestive disorders, autoimmune disease, migraine headaches, and possibly autistic spectrum disorders. One of the enzyme activities required to break down these peptides has been identified as dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP IV). The lack of this enzyme activity in the small intestine due to the above conditions prevents the digestion of these peptide fragments. These peptide fragments, if left undigested, are thought to elicit immune responses that can inflame the lining of the small intestine.
The proteases in Enteromend ny Health Concerns are designed to provide standardized DPP IV activity, and are stable in the acidic environment of the stomach. Enteromend also contains enzymes that have DPP IV activity and special enzymes to assist in the breakdown of carbohydrates, protein and fats. It contains acid maltase to assist in starch digestion, alpha galactosidase and invertase to break down sugars resulting from the fermentation of grains, legumes, and cruciferous vegetables, lactase to digest milk proteins, and special proteases to reduce inflammation and breakdown proteins.
