Therapeutic Actions

Formula Rationale
Ease 2 is based on the traditional formula Chai Hu Gui Zhi Tang (Bupleurum and Cinnamon Combination) which treats prolonged viral infections with GI disturbance and muscular tension. Pueraria (ge gen) is included to enhance the treatment of tension and aching in the upper back and neck. Bupleurum (chai hu) invigorates liver qi and is used in the treatment of prolonged infections. Ginseng (ren shen) tonifies the spleen and lung and treats fatigue, diarrhea and dehydration. Scute (huang qin) eliminates dampness. Pinellia (ban xia) regulates Qi and transforms phlegm. Licorice (gan cao) tonifies the adrenal gland and has detoxicant and harmonizing properties. Cinnamon (gui zhi) warms the channels and collateral and promotes blood circulation. Ginger (gan jiang) warms cold and stops diarrhea. White peony (bai xhao)invigorates liver qi and eliminates pain.
Clinical Notes
1. Useful in treating upper body conditions for which chiropractic manipulations are helpful, but do not maintain their effectiveness between treatments 2. Can be used to treat whiplash 3. May be used to treat PMS accompanied by chronic appendicitis or irritable bowel syndrome when patient has cold signs 4. General stress protocol: combine Calm Spirit with Ease 2, 2 of each TID or QID with loose stools. With normal stools or constipation: Calm Spirit with Ease Plus.
